We spent a couple of hours visiting the Jokhang Temple and it just so happened that it was a special holiday so we got to see the local people offering prayers at the temple. The monks were also on display, making the visit all the more special.
Due to the holiday the temple was crowded and the line ups were long for the locals. We were lucky and were able to by-pass most of the lines, although that meant missing some displays.
The Temple is located near our hotel so we were able to test our navigational skills and walk home...I don't think our guide trusted us though as she walked with us part way.
The temple has a great view of the Potala Palace and market square. Picture taking at a premium!
