Okay, a person can only take so many monasteries before saying enough! I believed I had reached that point yesterday, but that was before we toured a massive one in Shigaste.
The monastery houses the largest Buddha in the world, along with a village like complex that is home to the monks. It is much like a European village with the narrow streets and stone walkways. Tibetans walked daily to the monastery to worship.
We were able to see the monks perform their everyday chores from cleaning to carrying water. We also witnessed a fight between two monks....a fight that appeared to be over a cell phone. Yes, the monks have cell phones!
