Retro

Just when you think Zumba may be getting little boring, the Mexicans throw in a twist.  Some of the ladies, along with the instructor, showed up for class in retro costumes.

The hour was spent doing routines to Michael Jackson, Olivia Newton John and many other oldies. It was lots of fun, giving Zumba a different look.

If you are wondering why I had my camera at the gym....I always take it to record new Zumba routines for home.

What To Do?

Things haven't really slowed down here, instead we are becoming pretty routine in our daily lives.  Occasionally we throw in a few activities like cleaning and slicing 10 kilos of jalapeno peppers for canning.  That task took three of us two hours, and that was just the prep work.

We do find time to get to the beach for beer, margaritas and chips and salsa.  This isn't a difficult task as the weather has been perfect ever since we got back.

JJ's has been a favourite for tacos ever since we moved here and nothing has changed!  The battered shrimp tacos are the best around.

Bonfire

Another birthday...another bonfire on the beach.  We have our favourite bonfire beach which always seems to draw us back on March 11th.  Happy Birthday, Donna!

As usual, the dolphins were putting on a show.  The birds always let us know where the dolphins are diving.

Fundraising for the School

Every year the local Rotary Club hosts a carne asada festival at the elementary school.  This program draws huge crowds and it gives the children a chance to show off their dancing skills.

Besides the performances by the students, there are raffles for items donated by people in and around the town, a huge lunch supplied by the school parents and a Mariachi band. It was a great day, especially for the children and their parents.

A Few Renos

It appears that we can't get rid of the renovation bug.  Yesterday we took the upper cupboards apart, repainted them and installed some semi transparent inserts that we brought from Canada.

It actually gave our kitchen a little bit of a kick.  All will be great until the summer heat cracks these inserts and we have to redo them in the fall...hopefully not!

Where is His Mother When We Need Her?

Someone in our family insisted that a boiled and shelled egg will not burst in the microwave!!  It wasn't done to his liking so into the microwave it went.  The first 15 seconds were just fine and so were the next 15 seconds....but, the last 25 seconds weren't so pleasant.

I hate to say "I told you so"!

Hard Fought Battle

It was a hard fought battle and I'm pretty sure I came out on the losing end.  A mosquito chewed on my arms all night long.  I must have twenty bites from my wrists to my shoulders.

Darn things arrived late and were unwelcome quests until early morning. I did the swat and swear routine most of the night!

The rest of our day was much better...we had perfect weather for a round of golf and later we went to our favourite Italian Restaurant for pizza.

I think things will be a little slower this week which is a good thing as I don't want to keep up that pace for too long.  Oh, oh...I just looked at our calendar and no, things won't be slow.  Meetings, Cancer Walk Wrap Up party, Mardi Gras parade, pancake breakfast, daily gym and Zumba, weiner roast on the beach and a Carne Asada Party at the local elementary school.  This retirement thing is not easy!
