Not Just Yet

I am trying to not base my opinion of Phnom Penh on a short three hour walking tour, but right now things don't look so good.

The speed boat ride from Chau Doc to this city took approximately five hours. We had to stop in Vietnam to exit the country and then in Cambodia to enter their country...that took about an hour or a little more.

Our guide met us at the pier to escort us to our hotel....we stopped at a beautiful restaurant to refresh the body.

After check in, a shower and for some a short nap, we walked to get our bearings. I'm sure that by now when I say we, you know I am talking about our human GPS systems...Alice and Fred.  Jim and I just try to look like we understand where we are and where we are going. Notice the one picture of the two of us staring at people while the other two discussed how to get home.

The city is in a state of rebuilding, but things are going very slowly. The garbage and smells are unbelievable. We bought masks for the plane rides, but may have to resort to wearing them here.

Tomorrow will be the deciding point on this city. Keep reading.
