First Impressions

My first thoughts when we hit the streets of Hanoi was that there were a million motorcyles driving around. That impression stayed with me all day as we wandered the streets by our hotel, trying to get a feel for the area.

And the noise....constant honking of the horns to warn other bikers, cars and pedistrians. It never stops.

Fred has a pretty good sense of direction, but even he was lost in this maze of streets and shops. We hadn't eaten much in the past twenty four hours so we searched for a nice, clean restaurant to have a beer and a bite. Today that was Mission Impossible!

The heat and humidity took its toll on our weary bodies earlier than we would have liked, but the AC in our room was so soothing and tomorrow we will be fresh and ready for some exploring.

Well, it looks like I would fit right in with my little blue scooter. Mind you...I'm pretty anal on following the rules of the road!

Nice clean rest't OFF the street? hmmm how bout that place at top right hand side of the lake -- on 2nd floor...although it was super expensive ($18 for the two of us :-) Felt like Earls. I know you'll find the Hanoi version of the " Red River Pub"
