Getting There

We left San Carlos on Wednesday, April 6th and have been travelling north letting the weather be our guide. This has been a most unusual trip as the wind has been almost non-stop. We have spent more time in the camper than we would have liked!

The drive to the US border was easy and hassle free. Don't believe everything the media says about Mexico! The wait time crossing into the USA can vary from twenty minutes to eight hours, depending on the traffic. The longest I have waited in line was six hours. On Wednsday we were finished in twenty minutes.

Our first stop was Tucson, where we free-camped for one night at the Desert Diamond Casino RV parking area. At any one time, there are at least twenty motor homes camped.

We moved to Parker, Arizona to spend time at Buckskin State Park. The park is located on the Colorado River and is often too hot to be comfortable. Not this time. We were there seven days and out of the seven we had three nice days. Wind, wind, wind!

Our plans were to go to Death Valley, California, but their forecast was for cooler weather, (and we know the wind can surprise you there) so we sat at Parker, hoping things would clear.

We moved to Laughlin, Nevada on Thursday and stayed until Sunday, the 17th. We camped at Avi RV Resort and enjoyed it immensely, even with some wind.

I won a jackpot of $1311 USD on the first night - happy day! The Federal Government took 30% so I only took home $917.

We are moving to Mesquite tomorrow morning, after I hit the gym and Fred hits Lowes. We will sit there watching the weather through Utah and Montana and decide when to leave based on that information. Too many times we have driven through snow storms and regretted it immediately.

it seems like two months ago that we left for Mexico, instead of the six that it will be before we get home. It will be nice to see family and friends!

Can't wait to see my favourite (rich) sister-in-law...the Zumba Queen and her SideKick.
Drive carefully.
