Chili, Chili and More Chili

We were ready to go to the Chili Cook Off yesterday when we realized that we had the wrong date.  What day is this again?

Yesterday we were eager and ready to venture out, but today required a lot of self motivating to get moving.  Just being lazy, I guess.

We caught the Expresso Bus to where we believed the event was to be held...turned out Expresso is just a name and not an express bus at all.  In fact, we wandered all over NE Merida before finding our get off point.  Not bad...only had to walk a couple of kms to get to the Cook Off.

The Cook Off itself is much like San Carlos, maybe a little smaller.  It was held at the American Consulate's Residence, taking place in her huge back yard.  Tons of green grass, which is rare in Merida.  Security was tight and picture taking of the house itself was not tolerated.

Catching the bus home was much easier and we got dropped off three blocks from our apartment.  That was a blessing as we were tired from the heat and humidity.
