Cruise Control in Mexico?

We left San Carlos on December 1st with the intention of getting to our destination on December 4th.  La Penita here we come!

We are using the toll roads and for about 20 minutes Fred was in heaven...the road was excellent and he put the cruise on for the first time in Mexico. But, that didn't last long as the roads in the State of Sonora were not particularly good to travel on.  They were narrow and filled with many potholes - much like Saskatchewan roads.

We have travelled extensively in Mexico and have never had a moment of fear or apprehension.  Last night's camping experience makes us wonder what is happening to this wonderful country.

We were the only RV in the Los Mochis RV Park and when another unit pulled in we wondered why they parked them right beside us when there were 68 other sites available.  Just before sunset a guard showed up with a chair and some sort of tent structure and placed them behind our unit.  He covered our bikes with a tarp and the man sat there all night guarding the two units.  What does this say about the safety of Los Mochis and area?

We are leaving in a few minutes to Teacapan for a visit with relatives of friends.  We plan on staying there two days and moving on to La Penita on Tuesday.  We are not sure of the Internet access but will keep everyone posted as to where we are as soon as possible.
