The Beach

Fred and I love to go the Fiesta Hotel across the street from our house for an afternoon feed of salsa and chips. The first picture shows the normal beach activity for most of the winter. The last two pictures show the beach during Semana Santa when many families come to enjoy the water and the holiday. Semana Santa or Holy Week also attracts many college students who come just for the partying.

Our streets are congested and many taco stands are erected on any open parcel of land. The larger restaurants close down for the last three days as the crowds do not go out to eat and rather choose to eat on the street and buy beer from the beer stands that are almost as numerous as the taco stands.

The before and during photos:

It has been a fun filled three days and hopefully we can convince families members to come down next year to enjoy Semana Santa as Easter 2013 is in late March! The challenge is on!

I remember the party music blaring so it means not much sleep. Hope you two got your Beauty Sleep!

I was able to sleep through it all but Fred had trouble. I guess a hearing problem helps!

Every hotel is booked, many camp on the beach and some brave souls rent out their houses. I have seen them sleeping in their cars and in the back of their trucks.
