The Streets and People of Istanbul

Yesterday was a day of wandering, meeting new people, trying new food and getting to know the city. The pictures tell it all.

Eating and receiving a massage at our favourite restaurant.

A game of backgammon and a street vendor selling lottery tickets.

The view from atop the Galata Tower. Magnificent!

"Discussing the price!"

View from the Galata Bridge, along with the men fishing from the bridge.

Eating pickled cabbage and dills and then drinking the juice. Better than it sounds...try telling that to Alice!

Roasted corn on the cob.

The Turks, young and old, love to have their picture taken.

Our room was two floors below Alice and Jim's.

Ok - too many amazing photos.
a) Fred he looks way too relaxed - better tell him that his crops have been ploughed under by mistake from one of his sisters left at home.
b)Jim looks just like Dad chatting up a storm with the store owner
c) What's up with the pickled cabbage...getting ready for your diet in Ukraine?

Keep enjoying!

I was sure Jim was one of the guys at the chess table...he certainly could fit in as a local...has he been mistaken yet for a local and not participating in prayers??!!

I am still waiting for the photos of the beach...I mean, there must be a beach, right?

Photos are fantastic as is the accompanying commentary. Looks like you are having quite the adventure!
