Home Again

After 15 days on the road we finally made it to Eatonia yesterday around 1:30.  The snow is still around and one of the first things we had to do was shovel off the back deck to keep the water out of the basement.

We had hired a student to keep the decks clean, but she couldn't get in the back gates as the snow and ice had built up and blocked the entry ways.  We had to go in through the house to get to the deck.

Have a great summer!

Shopping and Visiting

After we left Parker we spent five days in Las Vegas.  The first day it seemed like all we did was stand in line to check in!!

We first had to drop the 5th wheel off at Sam's Town RV,  making sure everything would be secure for four days.  We have a freezer full of fresh shrimp from San Carlos that we did not want to lose.

Next we had to take Maggie to her kennel at the Pet Hotel...it was an awesome place and she got plenty of rest and attention.

And lastly, we had to check ourselves into Bally's.  The room was complimentary, but the RV Park and Maggie's kennel more than made up for that.

We had one of the best views we have ever had and because of that we spent lots of time looking out the window.

We met up with some friends for some refreshments at the Corner Bar near the Flamingo Casino.  Merv and Shelley are golfing friends from Medstead.....Merv was down to play in a hockey tournament and Shelley was there to shop and nothing more!  No hockey for her!

On Saturday we picked up Maggie and moved to the 5th wheel - we can only take so much time on the strip before we need to get back to reality.

The shopping time wasn't wasted....wait until you see my new bike!

Trip Home

Whenever possible we camp for a few days at Buckskin State Park....it is located outside Parker, Arizona and is one of our favourite State Parks.

The park is on the Colorado River so there is lots of boating activity to keep us entertained.  One of the frontage roads seldom sees vehicular traffic so we take advantage of that to do our biking.

The hiking trails wind through the hills around the Colorado and are well maintained.  Maybe I have been watching too much Criminal Minds, but I cut my solo hike short because I kept envisioning suspects behind every rock and over every hill!  Or maybe it was too hot and I just got lazy!!

Losing a Favourite!

We had planned to stop overnight at Salome, Arizona because we love the golf course there.  It is not a long course, but it is an interesting one.

When we arrived we were shocked to see that the course was gone.  The fairways were nothing but weeds and all that was left of the greens was sand and even more weeds.  Even the clubhouse was gone!

That was the only draw at Salome so we kept moving on and eventually ended up at Buckskin State Park by Parker, Arizona.  We had a reservation for the 13th, but because we were arriving a day early we feared maybe they wouldn't have a site for us.  Our luck held again...the site we reserved was actually empty which meant we didn't have to move after one night.

The driving range

Hole number one

I feel for those people who built on the golf course.

Off to a Good Start

Our drive from San Carlos was long and boring.  There was so much road construction going on that it took us almost 9 hours to get to Tucson.  We had an hour wait, in line, to get to the border gates. The lines have been much longer at times, but this time the traffic seemed to be moving very slowly.  Maybe more thorough inspections by the American Border Guards?

Once we were through with the questioning we were pulled aside and ordered to stand away from the vehicle while they searched our 5th wheel.  We knew this was coming because they most often search RVs.

We always free camp at Desert Diamond Casino - they have an awesome set-up for travellers like us.  They have installed cameras on the many lights surrounding the designated parking area.  Security comes around throughout the day and night, plus they have a golf cart to take you to and from the casino, if you wish.  We have never camped there alone as there are usually seven or eight other units using this place as an entry to or an exit from Mexico.

The first day we just rested after the trip, but the second day we did our necessary shopping...new tires on the truck, new golf clubs and a few new clothes.  It is hard to resist shopping after spending so much time in an area that has limited variety.

Spending the money was especially easy after my big win.  I was playing the penny machines and I won a couple of times.  My first win was $1100USD and my second big win was a jackpot.  After they took the taxes from me I walked out of the casino $2300USD ahead.  Not bad for three hours work!

Final Grooming

Both Maggie and I took the time to get groomed for our trip home.  She was bathed and combed...all I was able to do was get a haircut!

Even the truck and 5th wheel were cleaned and washed.

Now, what about Fred?

My Morning Routine

Who would have thought that I would give up my weekly golf game to go to a Cardio Pilates class?  But, that is exactly what I have been doing all winter.  The class is so addicting that I cringe whenever there is a possibility of missing the workout.

Six out of seven days finds me at the gym until 10:45 am. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the busiest and hardest working days.  On those days Pilates starts at 8:00 am and continues until 9:20.  We just have enough time to grab our breathe before an hour of Zumba.

Zumba is a fun-filled hour Monday to Friday.  The Zumba instructors give us a fast paced workout - much like a Zumba Cardio class I took last year.  We do Zumba in the small dance studio and often it is so full of sweaty bodies that the mirrors steam up.

On Saturday there are no classes so I do my own workout for a couple of hours and then I am free until Monday morning!

Fred doesn't join me in the gym and I'm sure he is thrilled that I am gone most of the morning.  He gets to tinker with whatever he likes, without any hassle from me!!

The gym in San Carlos is outfitted with a lap pool, tennis courts, snack bar, pilates room,  spinning bikes and all the regular equipment a person could want.  It is a loud and noisy place and I wouldn't have it any other way.
