Pepe is in Demand
Many of our friends are heading home and we have been saying good-bye for the last two weeks. Last night we decided to have one last supper at Blackies and Pepe was at his best.
Golfing With the Horses
Golfing in San Carlos can be an adventure. Some days your ball lands on a cow pie and on other days you have to chase the horses off the green.
We had such a day on Tuesday. My golfing partner had to run the horses off the 13th green before we could hit. They weren't really interested in moving and just gave us that look that said, "Who do you think you are dealing with?"

Beach Party
Yesterday our trusty bikes took us to La Palapa Restaurant for a beach party featuring different local bands. The music started at noon and we stayed until the bitter end at 5:00 pm. An excellent time was had by all - the weather was perfect, the music was great and the beer was cold! The proceeds from this event were directed to the Castaway Kids Organization.
The Twins and their youngest member had many people up dancing and if you have never danced in the sand, you would be surprised at how much you hurt the next day!
Like I said before, the beer was cold and it flowed freely at out table! Fred must have been in charge of counting for our table and I'm sure he lost count around 2:00.
The surf was the largest I have seen this year. Kia was in the water and I thought we were going to lose Maggie's four-legged friend when the waves grabbed hold of her. She is a young, strong dog and was only in shock for a few minutes before trying to get in again. No way did she get to the water again!
The families were very much in evidence yesterday as you can see from the pictures. The little girl on her mother's back attracted lots of attention and I'm sure helped the family sell more of their wares.

Anniversary Party
Friends celebrated their wedding anniversary on Friday and we were invited to join them for a meal and dancing. Both Barb and Rip love to golf so it was appropriate to have the event at the clubhouse.
Last week a group of us got together to make cabbage rolls, but the rest was catered to by the club. The meal was excellent and professionally presented.
Barb has a special love of Mariachis and as a gift to the couple a few of us hired a band to perform for an hour at the party. They were excellent and well received by the guests.
Barb and Rip are nighthawks who are always laughing at us and other couples from Tecalai who leave a party too early. We made a promise to stay until the bitter end...and we did. Six of us outlasted everyone! Even so, I was home by 11:30!!!

Golfing
Yesterday was the final day of our 54 hole Ladies Club Championship and I am glad it's over. This was all new to me so I was a little nervous and intimidated golfing with the best of San Carlos.
I did hold my own and ended up with the third best overall gross score [number of strokes for 54 holes] along with first place overall for low net [number of actual strokes minus my handicap]. I won some sort of medallion that will be presented at our final luncheon in early April. Not bad for a rookie!
I just had to squeeze in another 18 holes for the St. Patrick's tournament so I am tired and a little sick of golfing. Until next Tuesday, of course!

Birthday Party
Gloria has been waiting to celebrate her birthday for the last three days and tonight was the perfect time. A huge group from Parque Tecalai descended on Bananas Restaurant and threw their staff into a tizzy. The place was booked but I think we surprised them with the turnout and the partying.
It was the most unique time we have had in a long while. The drinks were fine - what damage can you do to beer, but the meal was something else. The salads arrived without utensils and none were found - we had to share as the restaurant didn't have enough for a full house. Some even tried using drinks straws to eat the salad! Just another memory from Mexico!
When the steaks and shrimp reached the table it became finger food until your neighbour finished their meal. Nobody could stop laughing and we all stored these memories for future reference.
The mariachis played for two hours and the two hours were well worth the time and money. Gloria was the star of the night, tequila shots and all. Happy Birthday Gloria!
Fred and I couldn't stay late as we are entered in the St. Patrick's Day Golf Tournament tomorrow and we needed to get our beauty sleep. By late, I mean 8:30!
By the way, I am taking part in our Ladies Club Championship and am near the top of the leader board in the first flight. We have completed 36 holes as of today and will finish up on Tuesday. Will keep you posted.

Beach Party
From noon to 3:00 we attended San Carlos' version of the Chili Cook Off. It is always well attended with people tasting and judging various styles of chili. My Zumba class performed again this year and like last year I watched and did not take part. I am dedicated to the activity but not good enough to participate in front of a crowd. Or willing!
At 4:00 we went to a beach party and wiener roast to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was perfect weather for a bonfire - no wind or bugs!
Every time we have a bonfire on the beach our Mexican friend finds us and tries to sell some product. Today it was hats and he was very successful. He loves Canadians!

Pet-Sitting
We are looking after Kia while her "parents" are in Tucson. Kia and Maggie are very well acquainted - Maggie spent ten days wlth her while we were in Cuba.
Maggie turned six years old on March 6th and Kia is only one, but even so Maggie tries to keep up. She does a fair job but every once in a while she needs a break - I think Maggie knows now how Pipi feels when she is around!
They play hard all day long (we will have to replace both screen doors) and sleep hard all night! The two have become pretty good buddies and they both have a tendency to pout when separated. They go to sleep on each other's beds and sometime during the night they switch places. We wake up in the morning to two cold noses warning us that it is time to go for a walk.
